A GRAMMY ACM and CMA nominated artist, Paslay has co-penned five No. 1 hits including "Friday Night," "Rewind" (Rascal Flatts), "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" (Eli Young Band), "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" (Jake Owen) and "Angel Eyes" (Love & Theft). USA Today calls Paslay "flat-out brilliant" and American Songwriter names him as influencer of country music. Matthew Kane has been up and down many country roads in Iowa playing numerous night clubs with his band Greenbrier. Although Kane was raised in Virginia, he has ties to Northeast Iowa. "My mom grew up in Clermont. Her parents are Olson's and Gunderson's." Kane is on his way to the big time. He has opened for Josh Gracin, Joe Nichols, Sugarland and many others. Kane is slated to open the show and then play in the beer garden after the concert.
The show is the first large concert for the Fayette County Fair in many years. Ag Society Board President Ryan Sparrgrove says he's planning on a big Saturday night at the Fair. "Our vision is to offer great family entertainment for all ages that keeps people wanting to come back. We've been missing the concert piece for many years now." said Sparrgrove. "We are excited to have great artists on stage and great sponsors like Casey's General Stores, AM 950 KOEL and K98.5 FM and Bemiss Distributing to help us make it all possible. We hope to make the concert an annual event in the Grandstand," he added.
Matt Egan, fair secretary and treasurer, admitted the fair had declined for many years. There was no charge admission for the 2014 fair and they saw a big increase in attendance. "The Fair is a great way to celebrate and showcase the 4-H and FFA youth of our county and their families. It is very important to encourage these young leaders." said Egan. "We are working hard to build excitement and bring people together. We are striving to provide a safe, enjoyable atmosphere with exciting entertainment for all ages." he added. The star-stetted concert is just one piece of the multi-faceted puzzle to run a successful fair. "We have a great lineup of entertainment this year."
To keep up to date on all the fair activities or to buy tickets for the concert visit the fair's new website at fayettecofair.com for more information on this year's events. Grandstand tickets for the show are $30 for general admission or $40 for standing room only on the track. VIP tickets are available as well for $75. The special VIP area includes hors d'oeurvres, a private area and VIP rest rooms. Tickets for the concert go on sale on Wednesday, April 1st. Details about where to buy ticket will be available soon.
